Odyxea (Milan, Italy)

Odyxea (Milan, Italy)

Odyxea (Milan, Italy)

Odyxea is a project born from the encounter of two musicians with diverse experiences in various musical fields, from jazz to rock to popular music.

Roberto Sorrentino (guitar, bouzouki, jaw harp, didgeridoo) is from Milan but born in Campania. Like many provincial teenagers, he grew up with Rock and Metal music, but it was first Gong, and then Ozric Tentacles that catapulted him into world-electro music. In Milan, he collaborates, among others, with several historic groups: Freshwater Elephants, Airin (with whom he participates, among others, in the Montelago Celtic festival).

Alessandro Tarolo (flutes, electronics) had his initial classical training in the 80s before approaching jazz by attending the civic school of Milan. In the early 2000s, he began a long concert activity with various groups in the field of folk music, including Canto Antico and Davide Van de Sfroos.

Currently, both musicians are on tour in Italy with the Celtic and medieval music formation of Mystiknot.

Alessandro Tarolo

Alessandro Tarolo was born in Varese on January 16, 1968. He began his musical journey at the age of 12, studying classical flute with Maestro Aldo Garavini. His passion for music led him to explore various instruments and genres, from jazz to folk. In the early 1990s, he studied jazz flute and music at the Civic School of Jazz in Milan, learning from renowned musicians such as Franco Cerri and Enrico Intra.

Today, Alessandro is a versatile multi-instrumentalist, proficient in various types of flutes (traverse, recorder, tin whistle), as well as folk instruments like the piffero, piva, and several types of bagpipes. He also incorporates electronic elements into his music, using a MIDI sax to blend traditional sounds with modern technology.

Throughout his career, Alessandro has been part of numerous musical projects and collaborations. He has performed with jazz ensembles, folk groups like Canto Antico and The Lodiners, and even toured with renowned artist Davide Van de Sfroos. His musical journey has taken him across Italy and abroad, playing in prestigious venues and festivals.

In recent years, Alessandro has embraced new musical adventures. He co-founded Mysticnot, a group focused on Norse and medieval music, and in 2024, he formed ODYXEA with Roberto Sorrentino, a project that fuses electronic dance music with acoustic instruments. For Alessandro, ODYXEA represents an exciting new chapter in his musical exploration, blending his diverse experiences into a unique soundscape that bridges traditional and contemporary music.

Biography: Roberto 'Rober.Lust' Sorrentino was born in Pagani (Salerno). He picked up his first guitar at 11 years old, took lessons for a few years, and then continued as a self-taught musician. Today - living in Milan - although working as an IT consultant, he has never stopped playing. Over time, he has also explored other instruments such as the mandolin, jaw harp, didgeridoo, and bouzouki, which he plays with Odyxea. For him, this project represents the perfect synthesis of his way of understanding music, as a 'journey-introspection', drawing inspiration from groups like Shpongle, Islandman, and Ozric Tentacles.
